1. Who we are

ChennaiDeals.in ("we", "us") is a community website for sharing and voting on shopping deals in and around Chennai, India. You can reach us at Chennaideals.in@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only in scrambled form), or the basic profile your Google or Facebook sign-in shares with us. If you turn on SMS alerts, your phone number.
• What you post: deals, pictures, comments, votes, saved deals, reports and alert preferences.
• Sign-up and security details: when you join, when you visit while signed in, and when you post a deal or a comment, we record the date and time, your IP address, approximate country, device type, operating system, browser, language, time zone, screen size and the website you came from. We use this to stop fraud, spam and banned users returning, and to meet our legal duties. Only the site admin can see it, and the activity records are deleted automatically after a set period (normally 180 days).
• Visit log (everyone, signed in or not): for each day you visit we record the pages you open, the date and time, your IP address (stored encrypted), approximate country, device type, operating system, browser and the website you came from. We use it for security, to stop abuse and to count visits. It does not use a tracking cookie and does not follow you from one day to the next. Only the site admin can see it, and it is deleted automatically after a set period (normally 180 days).
• What you look at: the searches you make and the deals you open. We use the product categories to build your personal YOU page. You can reset this on that page.
• Cookies and similar tools: to keep you signed in, remember choices (such as closing a notice) and, if you accept them, to measure visits and show advertising.

3. Why we use it

• To run your account, show deals, count votes and send the alerts you ask for.
• To check deals and pictures for scams and unsuitable content, including with automated and AI tools.
• To keep the website safe, investigate reports and enforce the Community Guidelines.
• To understand how the site is used and improve it.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We use trusted service providers who process data for us: website hosting and storage, email and SMS delivery, sign-in providers (Google, Facebook), AI services that help check deals and pictures (for example Google Gemini), and analytics or advertising partners (for example Google AdSense) if you accept cookies. We may also share information when the law requires it or to protect people from harm. Deals, comments and your public display name are visible to everyone.

5. Affiliate links and advertising

Some deal links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. Advertising partners may use cookies to show you relevant ads.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account we remove your personal details, but we may keep limited records (such as a ban record or a security log) for as long as needed to keep the community safe or to meet legal duties.

7. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, to withdraw your consent, or to stop alerts, by writing to Chennaideals.in@gmail.com. You can turn off alerts in your account and reset the YOU page at any time. You can also block cookies in your browser, though some features may stop working. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and similar rules that apply to us.

8. Children

ChennaiDeals.in is meant for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, please use it only with a parent or guardian. If we learn that a child's data was collected without a parent's consent, we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no website can be completely secure. Please use a strong password and never share it.

10. Changes and complaints

We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do. If you have a complaint about how your data is handled, write to Chennaideals.in@gmail.com and we will reply within a reasonable time.
